Labiaplasty

Many women are born with excess labia minora (inner labia) tissue, or develop excess tissue after childbirth.  While this is not an issue for all, for many, it can lead not only to feelings of self-consciousness, but also to significant functional problems and discomfort.

Many complain of limitations in the activities they are able to do, such as exercising or fitting in clothing they feel comfortable wearing.

Dr. Edwin Kwon expertly approaches this delicate area with a “wedge-technique” rather than the traditional trim technique.  The wedge-technique preserves the deeper tissue and sensation, while protecting against painful complications such as over-resection and scalloping.

Wedge Vs. Trim Technique

WEDGE LABIAPLASTY TECHNIQUE

-
Dr. Kwon recommends
Cuts out excess skin, not deeper tissues
Deeper tissues pushed back in
Preserves underlying vascular supply
Preserves nerves
Preserves sensation

TRIM LABIAPLASTY TECHNIQUE

-
Not recommended
Uses outdated technique
Deeper tissues and nerves trimmed off
Can lead to poor scarring
Can lead to painful complications
Can lead to over-resection
