Many patients complain of lower eyelid “bags” as they age. This noticeable puffing of the lower eyelid is caused when the orbital septum weakens and allows the underlying fat to protrude.
This issue is often accompanied by deepening of the “tear trough”, making the eye bags even more prominent. Traditional lower blepharoplasty techniques focus only on the removal of the lower lid fat, which can leave a hollow look requiring further correction.
Dr. Edwin Kwon performs a more advanced technique which limits the fat removal and repositions the remaining fat to address the tear trough deformity to create a smooth transition between the cheek and lower lid skin to give a much more youthful appearance.
